METHODISTS GATHER FOR SPRING FESTIVAL FOR CHRISTIAN RENEWAL

Methodist Central Hall Westminster (MCHW) hosted its much-anticipated annual Daffodil Day on Saturday, 2nd March 2024, bringing together a diverse and joyful community for a day of Christian encouragement and renewal. This spring festival, now a hallmark event in the Methodist calendar, featured a stellar lineup of guests and activities to inspire attendees on their spiritual journey.

The event was graced by the uplifting melodies of the London Community Gospel Choir, setting the tone for a day of celebration and worship. Renowned broadcaster Pam Rhodes added her insightful reflections and interviews, contributing to the spiritual nourishment of the audience.

One of the highlights of the day was the presence of the President of the Methodist Conference, Revd Gill Newton, who shared words of wisdom and encouragement. The Lord Mayor of Westminster also attended the event, emphasising the significance of the occasion within the local community at the heart of the nation.

Maggie Woods, representing Methodist Women in Britain, brought a unique perspective to the festivities, emphasising the role of women in the Methodist community and their contributions to faith and service.

A special moment during the event was the celebration of 80 years of the MHA, marking a significant milestone in the organisation's commitment to providing care and support to those in need.

The keynote address was delivered by the Superintendent minister of MCHW, Revd Tony Miles, who spoke passionately on the theme 'Blessed and called to bless.' His sermon resonated with attendees, offering spiritual insights and encouragement for the journey ahead. Mr Miles said, ‘Despite the evils in the world, despite times of suffering, confusion, and doubt, the light of God’s love still shines in the darkness and breaks through to give us hope: an assurance that the Lord is with us eternally, and one day his purposes will triumph.’

Daffodil Day at MCHW serves as a vibrant expression of faith, unity, and community. The event was a testament to the Methodist Central Hall Westminster's commitment to fostering spiritual growth and renewal within its congregation and the wider community.
